Work In Progress

It's a Saturday morning.
So Uni started last Monday. That would probably explain why I haven't updated in a while..not because there's any lack of material but because I'm too damn TIRED.
For someone who's being waking up at 12pm everyday since the past 3 months, suddenly having to wake up at 8 am (or sometimes 6am *gasp*) takes a lot.
Damn you, Sleep Debt!
*shakes a fist*

Ah well.

Uni's been good so far!
The fresh meat looks appetising heh heh. 'Twas good meeting old friends again, making some new ones and seeing old ex-friends.
So far I've learnt bits about the Universe, how people can be actually very nice, the stupidity of Singaporeans and how people just cannot act their age.

The new lecturer is dreamy. I was so fascinated by his nose. It was the straightest damn nose I've ever laid my eyes on. I found myself fantasising about how I'd spend hours..lovingly drawing his nose.

Yes, I'm weird. Deal.

Speaking of deal, I had a commentor who wasn't too happy with my post on why-i-hate-kids.
I was told too 'grow up' and that I was far too opinionated despite knowing didley about kids and motherhood.

Hmm, first of all here's a big 'Fuck you' to you.
It's my blog.
I'll post whatever the hell I want to and I'll be opinionated about whatever I want. And you know what's the BEST bit? You can't do a damn thing about it.
You don't get to tell someone what they should or should not blog about because that defeats the purppose of someone starting a blog.
Maybe I missed the memo on 'What-needs-to-go-on-a-blog'?
Gimme a break.

Secondly I never claimed to be the expert on motherhood so quit making stuff up in your head. So kindly think through your comments before you put them up.

I've been reading 'Shantaram' by Gregory David Roberts. It's an amazing book.
If I wasn't so anal about keeping my books clean, I'd have underlined hundreds of beautiful lines in it, just coz they're so intense. There was something about suffering in there..about how when we're kids, sufferring is when we don't get what we want. When we're adults, sufferring is having something taken away from you.
Read the book!
Can't wait to watch the movie version of it (I've heard it's starring Johnny Depp, and that's always a good thing.) Let's hope they don't butcher the book!

Well I'm off to continue reading!
Have a good weekend guys

First time I'm back in ages and:
1) You finally post something (didn't know you tooka break)
2) Somebody gets all righteous on your blog
3) You go ballistic on them

Well.
All my worries that blogworld's changed have been put to rest.

xclusively me - i hope you enjoy the book..im not done with it yet but so far i love it :)

grafx - haha i cant wait to graduate! but i suppose that when i do start working ill miss uni too...haha well im okay with a couple of dog eared pages/ bent covers and all..ill just cheat and put a weight on it to straighten it out..but underlining (esp in INK..ARRRRGH) that kills me!

box - i usually get restless if i dont update at least once a week..i dont know if ive mentioned this before but this blog is more for me to read (in the future) than anything else...a diary of sorts..know what i mean?
haha u know its been a while since ive been faintly annoyed at anyone here..but some people are just a special kind of stupid!

I love how people read blogs and take everything at face value. One day I had a bad morning and wrote something and people acted like I needed to see a shrink. WTF?

I went back to read the comments by The Humourless One.

The trouble with KNOWING diddly squat about kids and motherhood, is that if you ever decide that you'd just rather have a dog, it's already too late, unless you want child services at your doorstep. To Humourless One: My brats are now with my drug dealer ex, and though he ain't sendin 'em to school, the kids are actually learning IMPORTANT shit. Like how to tell the good crack from the bad crack. So don't get all moral on me.

Awww Mahi, who gives a damn what anyone thinks? Besides in my humble opinion, only losers visit other people's blogs to advise them on how to live. There are plenty of them on the blogsphere so don't even bother dignifying them with a reply. Personally I wouldn't agree with you on the kids thing but someone is violating your freedom to blog by telling you to shut it.

Am commenting here after quite a while...

Shantaram is brilliantly written, though it stretches a bit in the latter half. You see Bombay in a different light after reading it. And everyone has some great lines - Lin, Karla (esp. the dialogues between the two at Colaba), Kader Bhai..

I'm curious to see how the movie turns out - I can already imagine the media circus when Depp comes to Bombay ("Sir, what do you think about Indian food/films/women/cows on the road." The universal answer, of course, is 'chicken tikka masala'. How about some originality every once in a while? )

And I liked your post about kids. Nice sarcasm oozing through.

minty - exactly...why are people retarded enough to think that ONE post defines us? and they tell us that WE need help.

thank you raindrop -hug-
its needless to say (but ill say it anyway) i wish the kids were with you.

smithy- see honestly i dont care what they have to say coz constructive criticism it is definitely NOT
..it just annoys me that people are THAT stupid..and im not talking about my blog..look at megha's blog (tamilpunkster.blogspot.com)..she gets frikkin idiots on her comment box who just talk for the sake of it!
and the kids thing..come on yaar if i really hated them my posts would be downright malicious..they're said in good fun..know what i mean?

phoenix - welcome back! yup it does stretch a bit..im at the point..but yes the lines are definitely gems..some of them will stick with me.
the kids post yea..i mean if readers can't see the OBVIOUS tongue-in-cheek quality to it (like all my other posts about kids) then thats just dumb!

Funny you should mention Johnny Depp... the kids and I are watching Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory as I type...

... and as a mother who does love her own kids but will be damned if they turn out to be spoiled brats and will tell all that being a mother does not a lover of all children make seconds that FUCK YOU to that idiot who took issue with you!

Bitch!

So speak on and rant if you need to (lord knows I know a thing or two about them things!) and know that this Ladee has got your back!

HARD CORE!

Take loads of drugs and keep taking the drugs. That cures sleepiness. And constantly drink coffee. That's what I do and I'm alright.

Shantaram was gifted to me by friend. I was told that I would love it and hate it. It is so true.
The sceptic in me refused to believe that any of it could be true. But the other part of me loved the book. The style of writing, the play of human emotions, the 'bear hugs', Prabhakar et al.

Oh and I have been a long time reader of your blog. I love it here. =)

sravanthi - welcome baby! well im not done with the book yet, but i read a couple of spoilers (by mistake) and now im dreading the end :S i think the thing with these books is, you gotta leave your cycnicism outside and just immerse yourself in the experience..after all where's the fun if you're gonna nitpick right? defeats the purpose of flights of fancy!

I've visited your blog a few times, and I love it!
But yes, Shantaram... amazing book. I was reading it while travelling this summer, had about 100 pages left, and accidentally left it behind. So I don't know how it ends... :(
I had so many pages of the book dog-eared, and so many passages scribbled down in a notebook for all the thought-provoking paragraphs.
