11 September, 2006

..And when the last One falls, when it's all said and done..

Something's been nagging at me the whole day and I only realised what it was just as I was about to go to bed..

It's September 11th.

Be honest- How many of us actually remembered? Why are the memorials shown less and less as the years go by?
For the media and for us as people, I guess 5 years is enough to make any event old news, huh?

It's sad I know..there have been so many more disasters that ought to be remembered - the Gujarat Earthquake, the Bali Bombings..just to name a few, but still 9/11 chills me to my very core.
I am racked with guilt because I can't even remember the date of those other occurences.

God knows how many more Innocents will have to die in the name of pride and obstinacy.

My point of view. I'm not going to apologize or anything.
So there you go.

Innocents/ Innocence - Rest in peace.

There is nothing to apologize about sweet Ladee Mahi... although this year there is quite some talk about 9/11 due to it being the 5th anniversary...

It chills me to my core too...

Yes, may they rest in peace...

Besos to you dear Ladee!

I WAS FIRST! WOOH!

Hey baby, actually this year they highlighted it more than ever,..
The sad sad thing is, Osama is still out there living his life as per normal,..

Its so creepy I know,...More than ever I have this fear of flying , liking sitting in a plane will never be the same again.

I guess all we can do is pray for the departed innocent souls..

It's not surprising that you remember this one and not the others.

1. September 11 was the first of the big attacks
2. It happened to the Americans, who a) have never experienced anything like it before b) probably have a bigger publicity machine than any other country in the world

The people who REALLY piss me off are the conspiracy theorists who think Osama is just misunderstood, and the whole thing's just an Israeli conspiracy.

Why do you want to remember the disasters? Does anyone remember the Gulf war dates for the Middle East? It was a diasaster for them too methinx. And the recent Iran / Iraq ones. People remember dates only if it was personal. Otherwise its just another day. No guilt on the head needed.

@ Jay: Very true, very very true. Don't think I could have put it so precisely, though.

Agree with you too, Mahi. It'd struck me only in the evening when I grabbed a paper to check the movie listings. Guess everything is forgotten after a while (can't believe I'm sounding so philosophical!) - for better or for worse, I cannot say.
