Hello Lonely.
I was at the vet last night with my friend Mink and Kelso (poor baby had an upset stomach..yes I know..I'm gonna be one of those Moms), when a Chinese lady about 30 years of age, stepped in with her little pomeranian.
She stood there staring at us for a good 10 minutes.
I gave her a smile and she immediately walked over and sat next to me.
So we exchanged the usual pleasanteries - What's your dog's name? Is she fixed? No? Oh mine is. Can she shake hands? Is she noisy? bahblahblah.
Then things suddenly took off on a tangent-
Her- You know, hor.. when I was attached ah.. my boyfriend and I had a dog, we went out for so many years you know! But when we broke up ah, no choice..I had to leave the dog there.
Me - (A bit surprised that a complete stranger was telling me something so..private) Oh dear...I'm so sorry to hear that..you must miss the dog a lot..
Her - Of course la.. but what to do? I told my father- I live with my parents now - I told my father ah that I dun wan anymore boyfriends la..enough is enough..
Me - Why not??
Her - Men are no good la..they will always cheat you one ahh.
Me - (Gulp.) R-r-really?
Her - Ya lor. Cannot trust them one ah. That's why I love dogs so much! They're very..(says something in Chinese and struggles to explain the English equivalent)
Me - .....loyal?
Her - Aaaaah correc'! They are very loving la, very loyal la(voice drops to a whisper) not like men. Correc' or not?
Me - Uh....(nods uncertainly)
Her - Aiyoh.. sorry sorry hor.. I think you and friend want to talk right, sorry I disturbed you!
Me - Oh no no..you can stay!
After that, we went back to talking about the dogs, but I was a bit unnerved after that. There was look of immense sadness in her eyes, even when she laughed.
I've always been a little paranoid about getting into relationships with men (mostly, I try not to.) And to confound things, a complete strangers pours her heart out to me about this.
Honestly, as I talked to her, the one thought that kept running through my mind was "Oh God.. I don't want to be her, 10 years and 5 broken hearts down the road."
I left the vet thinking " Ohhh this is so not good for my issues."

It's usually the crazy cat ladies who start conversations like that. You know the type..they have 3 cats and their clothes are always covered in cat hair.
mint- thats what i suspected..she was a little OCD about her dogs cleanliness...but she really unnerved me man simply coz she was giving off vibes of immense sadness..i hope i end up loving more than a dog, when im older.

I know there are men who cheat and stuff. But trust me,I have not met a single man like that. At least not yet.Call it my luck or whatever. *touchwood* But there are soooo many men out there who are quite the loyal types! Now if things don't work out between the two, then its another story.I'm saying from my experiences.So just like i keep telling my other friends, trusting 'em is all you have to do and all you can do. =D

Bt seriously, there are guys who are jerks, while there are others who are actualy pretty good guys...by judgin all guys as jerks is unfair on the good ones and saying all guys are saints is a cardinal sin!...so my advice(for wat its worth) trust ur heart... :)
Seems to me like she misses her dog more than her boyfriend....smart woman that, take a leaf out of her book. Kidding apart, I don't think you can learn from anyone else's "mistakes"...you have to make your own and discover what life means to you.

Just coz she had a bad bf..n that most guys are a**holes...doesn't mean there aren't good guys our there.... one just has to grab him as soon as u smell the "right guy" (picture grabbing the last piece of double chocolate cake)! Come on, they're not all bad..and lets face it, you can't live without love. I think to start with the expectation that love lasts forever is irrational and unfair and outs undue pressure. So gurl, take a chance with your heart. You'll never regret it. And if he cheats, pound him to the ground.
Mahima, being a guy I know that many of them can be a**holes, but there are also some really nice guys out there.
You just have to take it nice and slow and not hurry up when u meet a guy. As u spend more and more time, you will see whether he really cares abt you or not.
So, you just have to spend as much time as possible and see how he behaves in different situations. That itself will reveal to u what he is.
By the way, I feel that woman who talked to u seems to be very bad in knowing what kind of people are good for her and who is harmful. No wonder she feels dogs are better then humans!
If I were you I'd find a new vet.
